FAQ-20250525-200249.png

What Does “Strategic Account” Mean?

A Strategic Account is a customer that’s especially valuable to your business due to one or more of the following:

  • High revenue potential or current value

  • Key partner, reference customer, or brand name

  • Long-term growth or expansion opportunity

  • Critical role in your market, ecosystem, or network

Marking an account as “Strategic” allows you to prioritise focus, allocate resources, and monitor engagement more closely.

Why Is It Important to Mark Strategic Accounts in Salesforce?

Prioritise Focus Across Teams

Strategic accounts often require tailored attention—whether that’s deal support, executive alignment, or custom success planning. Tagging them helps ensure they’re never overlooked.

Drive Account-Based Strategies

Marking strategic accounts makes it easier to run targeted campaigns, deep-dive QBRs, or white-glove service motions across sales, success, and marketing.

Highlight High-Impact Accounts in Dashboards

Strategic accounts are flagged with a ⭐ and often surfaced in reporting, analytics, and health reviews—so leadership can track progress and risk across your top-tier customers.

Improve Internal Coordination

It makes it clear to everyone—AEs, CS, Admins, and Execs—that this account is important. That clarity improves response times, deal support, and collaboration.

How Do I Mark an Account as Strategic?

  1. Go to the Account record

  2. Locate the field: Strategic Account

  3. Set it to “Yes”

  4. The ⭐ Strategic icon will automatically appear

Make sure to keep the designation up to date—especially if the account is expanding, renewing, or at risk.

Tip - Strategic status doesn’t just reflect current revenue—it can also reflect influence, fit, or future potential.
