What Is Chatter?

Chatter is Salesforce’s built-in collaboration tool.
Think of it as an internal social feed that lets you comment, @mention teammates, share files, and keep everyone aligned—without switching tools.

It’s available on almost every record (Account, Opportunity, Contact, Lead, etc.) and is perfect for:

  • Quick updates

  • Internal discussions

  • Handover notes

  • Approvals and file sharing

How Do I Use It?

  1. Go to any record (e.g. Opportunity, Account)

  2. Click the Chatter tab or scroll to the Chatter component

  3. In the Post tab, you can:

    • Write an update or ask a question

    • Use @mentions to tag teammates (e.g. @Jordan Lee)

    • Click 📎 to attach a file

    • Hit Share to post your message

Your post will be visible to anyone with access to that record.

Best Practices

  • Use Chatter for internal communication only – never customer-facing

  • @mention team members for faster collaboration

  • Share context and links (not just “see above”)

  • Use it to document decisions, blockers, and milestone updates

  • Keep posts clear and professional

Use Chatter during handovers, deal strategy sessions, or renewal prep—it’s a central place for notes your whole team can access later.
